In the dark of the night.

I hate nightmares.
I don't have them very often, but when I do, they are vivid and frightening. I had one the other night.
I dreamed that our next door neighbor was kinda creepy and kept asking me all these questions about my and my sisters routines. Eventually I slammed the door in his face. He must not have liked that because I came home from shopping the next day to find my sisters had been killed. It was awful. There was blood spattered everywhere, and the killer had drawn a smiley face in blood on our wall. I knew it was the next door neighbor, deep deep down inside. The FBI came and cleaned everything up, and they also told me that the serial killer was now after me. We knew this because at the funeral, someone handed me an envelope filled with money, and on each one of the bills, a letter was circled, and it spelled out "I'm going to get you!"
I don't know where there is a exclamation point on any money, but it was there in the dream.
Anyway, I had to change my name and move, but every time I did, he would find me again and try and kill me.
I woke up at 2 shaking and couldn't get back to sleep. I kept trying to convince myself that there was nothing wrong, but that I had better stay in bed, just in case. Then I had to go to the bathroom. So, picking up my Snow White piggy bank figuring I could princess him to death if anyone tried anything, and with my back against the wall, I made for the bathroom.
After taking a few breaths and telling myself nothing was wrong, I walked around the apartment, checking for bad guys. Satisfied that no one was there, I went back to bed and hid my head under the covers. Then I peeked out again, just in case.
Please share nightmares so that I won't feel so silly about being scared out of my mind. It seems dumb now, but at the time it was freaky.

  1. Have you been staying up late watching Charades again?

Once I had a nightmare that an alligator ate one of my kids. It was horrible and now when we go to the zoo I don't let the kids see the alligators.

  2. Wow, that is super freaky. My worst nightmares are of the ocean. You know how the ocean is at the end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (movie)? That's how it is in my dreams. Always. The waves get bigger and bigger and they chase me. I didn't even know waves could chase people, but they do.

Bees are scary in my dreams too.

Sometimes there are actual people or maybe like a dragon or something, but those ones are not so bad because I just use my magical powers (I always have magical powers) to overcome.

But waves and bees... man, those are freaky. Emotions in dreams are so heightened, even if the situation seems mundane in hindsight. I'm glad you had your Snow White piggy bank. :o)

  3. I'm Pretty sure that there isn't an apostrophy on the dollar bill ether...
and by the way it really does some damage when you princess someone to death!

  4. When you princess someone to death, do you just conk them on the head with a princess figurene? Or do you airly wave your hand while saying 'Off with his Head!" and then your loyal lackeys come and lob off his head? Or do you become so disgustingly cute and pink that he is forced to commit suicide rather than spend another moment in your presence?

I'm thinking the last one, but if not, I'll happily be a loyal lackey.

  5. I'm going to spend all day going over a dollar bill with a magnifying glass, to find the !. :D

  6. I once had a dream that my family got sucked down into the shower drain, and I had to go rescue them from the sewers, but I got attacked by giant rats. I found them, but they were just bones by then. It was scary.
